Lakeside Community Healthcare is more than just your medical group — we’re your partner in health. With our network of primary care doctors, specialists, hospitals, urgent care centers, and support services, we work closely with your health plan to provide the coordinated care you need.

Depending on the primary care doctor you’ve chosen, you’ll get care in one of two ways. You may visit one of our Lakeside Community Healthcare medical offices, many of which offer primary care, specialty care, and wellness programs all in one place — with a dedicated Member Liaison to help you along the way. Or, you might see an independent doctor from our larger network, which includes thousands of trusted physicians throughout the community. No matter where you go, we’re here to guide and support you throughout your care journey.

Prior authorization made easy

If your doctor refers you to see a specialist, you will likely need to have prior authorization.

After you visit your doctor or specialist, any referrals for care are sent to Lakeside Community Healthcare, not your health plan.

Some services require prior authorization, including:

  • Specialist visits
  • Imaging tests
  • Surgeries
  • Certain medications

If approved, the approval letter will include:

  • The name of the provider
  • Their phone number so you can make an appointment

Lakeside Community Healthcare handles the paperwork, so you and your doctor can focus on your health. If authorization is needed:

  • You will receive a letter in the mail.
  • Typically, 97% of requests are approved within 3 to 10 business days after submission.

Sometimes, the unexpected happens. Should this occur, and you need immediate medical care, an urgent care center may be a better option than an emergency room. An urgent care center may provide shorter wait times and fewer out-of-pocket costs than an emergency room.
